A Letter To My Teacher

"A life of joy and happiness is possible only on the basis of knowledge."

Dr. Radhakrishnan believed that "teachers should be the best minds in the country". Hence it is no surprise that his birthday, September 5th is celebrated as the national teachers day. Here are some heartfelt letters to our teachers to celebrate the magical bond between a teacher and student.

"They inspire you, they entertain you, and you end up learning a ton even when you don't know it." - Nicholas Sparks

Teachers play a great role in moulding a responsible citizen. They ignite the real potential inside us. They not only teach us the lessons regarding academics, they teach us the values of life too. We may be stuck at some points; Confused of what to do next; at that time our teachers will be our good mentors. Sometimes they become our true friends; with whom we can share all our thoughts, ideas and worries. They are the ones who guide us through the right path by realizing our strength and weakness. Teachers are our second parents. They play a prominent role in influencing and inspiring us. On this auspicious day I remember one of my favourite teachers, she was my high school class teacher. I could never ever forget her because she helped me a lot to develop my abilities as of all means. She was a constant support for me both in academic and in extra curricular activities.

She was always very pleasant and  was there for her students for any help. She personally knew each student and encouraged them. Still remembering the way she taught us each valuable lesson that we must hold on to be a responsible person. She never scolds us for our poor performance but always gives advice and motivation to improve. she never forgets to appreciate our small victories. Today I wish to dedicate these words to her. Thank you for being my teacher.

On this Teachers day, as an electronics and communication student, I would like to recall the words of D Martin-" A teacher's job is to take a bunch of live wires and see that they are well-grounded".

A good teacher is the one who can ignite hope and imagination with a craving for learning.

Dear Ma'am, I just wanted to let you know that you are one of the best teachers I have ever had. You have always been an excellent teacher who knows exactly how to handle us, motivate us, and guide us. All the efforts you invested to bring out the best in us can never be repaid in mere words. I really feel grateful for having a teacher like you.

HAPPY TEACHERS DAY.

Just like catalysts, every person require a guiding power to start off a life. And we call that guiding power TEACHER. A teacher introduces a different perspective of life, a new vision about the world. A teacher has such an intense part in a student's life that they can almost mould a child's character. And the influence of  a teacher, be it good or bad, can never be erased from a child.

And in our life we may come across lots of teachers, but there are only some teachers who stay in our hearts forever. So I'm going to talk about my favorite catalyst.

"What's the point in by hearting this rubbish in your textbook? This isn't going to help you in any way in the future!" Yes! These are the words of my social teacher. She never wanted us to replicate our text books. She wanted us to think. Think like ourselves. Think from our perspectives. And she wanted us to be 'US'. She never reduced our marks for writing our own points, instead she praised us for thinking out of the box, for standing out.

A social teacher asking you not to by heart the text book stuff was like water in the desert to me.

She was the only teacher who taught us from the heart and not from the text book. She was the only person who taught us life, to be a good human rather than a knowledge filled machine.

She never had a favorite student. But she was everyone's favorite. For the world she may be a mere teacher, but for me, she's my HERO.

                                                                                                                   -Nandana V(S5 ECE)

Yuval Noah Harrari in one of his books said “Humans emerge from the womb like molten glass from a furnace. They can be spun, stretched and shaped with a surprising degree of freedom”. This statement clearly shows how important a teacher is in a society. Whatever shape a person takes up in his/her life majorly depends on the approach taken up by his parent and teachers. More than a profession, teaching should be taken up with some responsibility to the society

There are a lot of teachers who I think have shaped my thinking and perspective about everything. Knowingly or unknowingly I have understood their intention and followed it. I take this opportunity to thank them.

"A great teacher is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget."

The role of a teacher in a persons life is irreplaceable. I recall this as I teach my one year old cousin how to speak new words and teach her what it means. I am now awed by the dedication and tolerance of these wonderful people who shape tiny minds.

Being home-schooled for the first year of kindergarten I was unable to communicate in English with my teacher who wasn't a Malayali. But she was so passionate about teaching that she frequently went to the teacher next door to translate for the two of us. She helped me through a reading club and made me more confident in speaking English.

To the teacher in my school library who would be ready with a book suggestion for me every week without fail and would move heaven and earth trying to find the book in that big library.

To my high school English teacher, who was a sight for sore eyes amidst the brutal entrance preparations. She always knew when the students reached saturation point and would stop teaching and listen to our problems which is sometimes what each student wants. To be understood.

As I progressed to college I came to accept that the bigger the lecture halls became the lesser would be that connection. But I was pleasantly surprised to notice vestiges of that bond here too. Their occasional congratulating of our extra-curricular activities, chiding on substandard performance and finding loopholes in rules to help us go for that IV. I now realize that I have never viewed my class from the perspective of a teacher. How could they possibly remember each student cramped into the corners of the classrooms throughout the college. After all they are human too aren't they?
